Plearch anyone?

Finally, a long awaited feature of plurk has been unleashed. Plurk Search, or Plearch as we like to call it, is a welcomed addition to the plurk community. This new feature will open up even more new possibilities, and will make Plurk a greater social site than it already is.

Confused on the new feature addition?

Dont be, as we will let you know all you need right here. Just follow these few simple guidelines for searching in Plurk ,and you will be on your way in no time.

In the lower right hand corner of your timeline you will notice that the calender button is no longer there and has been replaced with a nifty new search Icon as pictured here.

Click on the search icon and you will see a box pop up that looks similar to this.

From here you just type in the search term you want, select what you wish to search, and press the search button. Now Plurk has given us three choices on what we can search. These are as follows:

  • Own Timeline - Select this option if you wish to search you and your friends Plurks. Anyone that comes up on your timeline normally will be searched through via your keyword.
  • Everyones Plurks - Select this option if you wish to do the same search except with everyone on Plurk. This is basically the public timeline search as I am sure people with privacy options set to “friends only” cannot be searched with this feature.
  • Humans - I assume this means bots are excluded, however I cannot be sure as they did not mention this on the Plurk blog post about the search feature implementation. You can view the Plurk blog here.

Now there is one option that I personally would like to see, and is not currently implemented or announced. That feature would be a search of only your own plurks. Once people start getting up in their Plurk numbers this may be a great feature to add. For those of you that already are, may I suggest requesting this option.

Finally, once you click the search function you are brought to the Plurk search page. I have taken the liberty to do a search for “pleeps” on the public timeline and this is the page I came up with.

After you are finished sifting through the search you can either go back to your timeline, or you can conduct another search from the same page.

So there you have it. The new and extremely awsome plurk search function. While this may not be something people raise an eye for, it is definately a welcome addition to Plurk and all its great features. If you have any suggestions on what you think should be implemented regarding this or any other feature on plurk, feel free to leave a comment or send us an e-mail and we will be sure to discuss said ideas.
