This Plurkshop was based around a very controversial topic in the past week. The implementation of custom CSS design on your profile has had some astonishing comments that seemed to go through both good and bad views, and we thought that the time was upon us discuss this.

At approximately 4:20am cst on Friday June July, 18th 2008, throughout the Plurkiverse, time stood still, as Plurk went down for an one hour maintenance. Little did everyone know when the hour was up, Plurk would not be! We the Pleeps only received a message that downtime was imminent, and taking longer than expected, yet would be back soon. This was an understatement of what was to come. Plurk was actually down a grueling thirteen hours, and at approximately 2:05pm cst the lights came back on. After plurking and responding to a couple of posts, I realized everything would be dim in the world of Plurk for hours to come.

Well it sure has been an exciting night. As you all may know Alvin (UI Lead) from the A-Team attended the Plurkcast this afternoon and they talked about apps, stats, and whats upcoming for plurk (Read more on this story here). What Is A Plurkshop?

According to their site:

Plurkshops are community driven workshops on lots of different topics. Organically fostered on the Plurk social networking community.

I view a plurkshop as a fun, conversational method of learning new things from fellow plurkers in those particular fields. Long gone are the days of reading a textbook for all the answers. Now we have plurkshops!

If you are anything like me and you have 60+ friends then you know how full your timeline can get. Now some people back-Plurk and spend 2 hours reading every response, and some people “Mark All as Read” and move on. Neither of these are very good scenarios, and sometimes can lead to important information being missed completely. This problem and what to do about it have plagued Plurkers for months and I think I have come up with a decent solution.

Last night I was on Plurk having a good ole’ time with my Pleeps when suddenly some strange text appeared on one of my friend’s posts. It looked Japanese but I couldn’t be sure. There was one thing I was sure of however, That this friend did not speak Japanese. I opened the post to find out what was going on and sure enough she was freaking out. From what we gathered a user named yungsang had somehow posted on her timeline as her. Me being the helpful and “detective like” person I am, decided to help.

As the world constantly demands more and more out of us our hectic lifestyles make even getting the simplest things done impossible. Sure I know the feeling, you are sitting there banging away at your keyboard trying to complete a blog post or getting a project done and you suddenly realize its 3AM and you have to be in to work by seven. When you get off work its back to work again paying bills and doing the things you must to keep yourself afloat. Amidst all of this movement we have forgotten about the things that matter most, the things that are of true value that absolutely nothing in this world could replace. These things I speak of are you family and close friends.
