Family Time

As the world constantly demands more and more out of us our hectic lifestyles make even getting the simplest things done impossible. Sure I know the feeling, you are sitting there banging away at your keyboard trying to complete a blog post or getting a project done and you suddenly realize its 3AM and you have to be in to work by seven. When you get off work its back to work again paying bills and doing the things you must to keep yourself afloat. Amidst all of this movement we have forgotten about the things that matter most, the things that are of true value that absolutely nothing in this world could replace. These things I speak of are you family and close friends.

I know that I may not always be around to care for and support my family, and that is why whenever I feel as if my work is overwhelming and I will never keep up with the world, I just sit back and think about what a wonderful family I have. They are the light of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in this world. I always wish time was plentiful so I could spend a lot more of it with them.

Whenever I sit down to process and create my schedule the first thing I do before anything is add in the family time. Sure it sounds weird to budget time for my family, but I think it is a valuable and important skill that is necessary to have the family life I want. Even if I only get an hour a day, I know that I have spent time with my family and reciprocated all the love they have shown me over the years.

Social networking has brought on an entirely different aspect in the world of friends. Sure I have people I consider close friends and family online, however the love I have for them could never compare to the love I have for my own family. I am reminded of a quote that could better describe this.

“There’s no vocabulary For love within a family, love that’s lived in But not looked at, love within the light of which All else is seen, the love within which All other love finds speech. This love is silent.”
-T. S. Eliot

So in conclusion, be sure that you spend an adequate amount of time with your family throughout the week. It is the one thing that you will never regret doing, and can only make you a much stronger and wiser person for doing so.
