Possibility, Probablility, or Just Plain Scary?

Upon awaking this morning, I did what I do every other morning and jumped on Plurk (go figure)! This morning was different however because I seen a comment that caught my eye. I went to the link in the comment, and read the post about Trojan attacks on Twitter. After reading this and thinking about it for a while I remember something that was said a while back in a Plurkshop I hosted.

martinbogo says: I have a way of embedding a flash mp3 player. He goes on to state that it is a parsing bug on the part of the A-Team. (Note: he also states that he would not do it due to music on pages being annoying anyways)

Now, not knowing much about programming I can neither confirm or deny this fact, however if he can use an <embed> tag in a Plurk profile then this has me wondering if it is easier than we think to implement a virus onto a Plurk profile page. Can someone in fact use this parsing bug to their advantage? Can it really be that easy to hurt what all of us Plurkers work so hard to maintain on a day to day basis? Well, in the twitter article it seemed that it was just a misleading link to download a new version of Adobe Flash which is in fact a Trojan. Things like this are happening everyday in our online world. I believe that we need to step up and fight for our network. Again, I do not know if it is a possibility to implement a virus with this parsing bug out there, but I most definitely do not want to find out. So I felt I needed to bring this to the attention of the Plurk community and see what all the Pleeps think of this. If you have any information on viruses or bugs on Plurk, or if you can tell us if this is a possible scenario, then please leave a comment below. Its high time that we take action Before someone takes it on us!
I am thoughtwrong, and you’ve just been Pleeped!
